- What causes the discoloration of a tooth?
-As people age, enamel wears down, and teeth take on a duller appearance.
Tooth discoloration is a normal part of aging.
Other causes of tooth discoloration include side effects of medications used during the developmental phase of the teeth with in the mother’s womb, excessive fluoride consumption and an individual's genetic makeup.
Teeth whitening and veneers offer a cosmetic dentistry solution for people with discolored or dull-looking teeth.
-Does teeth whitening work for everyone?
- It works for most people. But, in cases involving severe discoloration, teeth whitening may not result in a bright, white smile.
Individuals with severe tooth discoloration should consider other options, such as porcelain veneers or composite bonding.
-What cosmetic dentistry procedures are available for people who are missing teeth?
-People who are missing teeth may be better served by a dental bridge and/or dental implants.
Dentures are not considered a cosmetic dentistry procedure, although they provide a cosmetic benefit for people who have lost all of their teeth.
Dentures may also be stabilized with dental implants.

I consider Dr. Charles Zuman of Fine Quality Dental to be one of the best dentist in Los Algodones, and here is why:
After 20 years, the crown on one of my front teeth became loose and fell off. I consulted two dentists in my home town of Victoria, British Colombia, and both said my only options were a bridge, a denture or an implant. They suggested I consider an implant, at a cost of about $5000.00. Not being on a dental plan, I decided to look for other options.
I consulted two dentists in Los Algodones and they both inmediately suggested an implant was their preferred option at a cost of $1300.00 to $1800.00.
I was then fortunate enough to learn about Dr. Zuman and made an appointment to see him in April 2010. During our inicial appointment, he had every oportunity to say I needed an implant, but to my surprise, instead suggested that we should try to save my natural tooth, by drilling out the old post (a very tricky procedure!) and engineer a new post and crown. I was thrilled and relieved. As a bonus, the cost would be a fraction of the cost of an implant.
The precedure went beautifully and my new tooth looks GREAT!
I am a very nervous patient and avoid dentist when I can, but Dr. Zuman made me feel confortable and even laugh occasionally. Dr. Zuman has more that 20 years experience, speaks perfect English, and is very confident and detailed in his work. His office is as clean as any I have seen in Canada, and the instruments and equipment all appear to be of a high standard. His assistant and receptionist are both competent and attentive.
In short, I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Zuman and will be back in November 2010 for more work.

cheerful, honest, completely bilingual, and utterly professional, he actually repaired mistakes made by another local dentist for no charge because he was so sad about their poor quality work. "Dr Charlie Zuman is awesome. He not only installed 3 implants, for a third of the cost stateside but also did a bone graft that was needed in the same session. The patients come first even if it means he has to work longer hours.
I'm very pleased with my new teeth. Dr Zuman even replaced an implant crown that my former stateside dentist had wrongly installed leaving too large a gap between teeth.

I had spent too many years procrastinating before I chose my new dentists in Los Algodones, Mexico, via Google, & I must say that Dr. Zuman & the staff of Fine Quality Dental, fulfilled all the promises of their website.
In retrospect I realize how lucky I was to have available to me the high level of their expertise in their respective fields of dentistry, in view of my out of sync mandibular joints, the loss of bone mass in my lower jaw & the misalignment of my bite. After 4 root canals & a full complement of porcelain crowns for every single tooth (adjusted to re-align my bite), I am so grateful for the combination of friendliness, skill, professionalism & integrity that put me at ease throughout all my treatments, which were completed in a very short time.

My experience with Dr. Zuman was very pleasant one. It was my first time using a dentist in Mexico, so I checked 6 different dentist to see who I felt comfortable with, and Dr. Zuman won my trust.
I had never had a root canal, so I was apprehensive about what to expect. Dr. Zuman explained what he was doing step by step and educated me as he worked on my tooth. He calmed all the fear. "Looking for a Dentist Without Having to Rob a Bank?"
For those in our community who require dental care, I want to share with you a "treasure" I found.
About a 3-hour drive from Phoenix, Az. is a small Mexican town called Los Algodones. It is 3 miles west of the California-Arizona border just past Yuma. Los Algodones exists to provide medical, dental, optical and pharmaceutical services to Americans and Canadians. I can't vouch for the quality of care at all of the doctors and dentists there,, but I found one who is a true gem. His name is Dr. Charles Zuman.
Born and raised in Mexico City, Dr. Zuman speaks English and Spanish, with perfect fluency. For over 20 years he has been an implantologist, although he performs all kinds of dental procedures. His advanced training has all been in the USA, as the diplomas, professional certificates, etc. in his office attest. His brand new office in Los Algodones is located a 5-minute walk from the border crossing. It is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, and the work areas are immaculate as you would expect.
Dr. Zuman's approach is very conservative i.e., he will start with least aggressive.invasive treatments needed and only if they don't work will he use more aggressive treatments. He is a dentist with "golden hands" - I have never had LESS pain or discomfort with ANY dental treatment than I have found with Dr. Zuman. I have been using him since last July and have been nothing short of delighted with his work - and with his bills. In my experience you can expect to pay about 1/3 of what you will pay in the USA for the same treatments, and as I just returned from a visit to him.
A note: I have lived overseas for nearly 20 years and have had dental work done in many different places, including of course, the USA. I have not found a better dentist ANYWHERE than Dr. Zuman, I can tell you that for me, he is a "keeper".

We like his approach and how he focuses on preserving the original tooth structure. He addresses one tooth at a time, evaluates it and treats it accordingly.
